I had seen the great London firework display on New Years’ Eve a few times over the years on the TV when I hadn’t had anything planned, and I kept saying that I must go and actually experience the event live at some point – finally I did it!
This was a very busy, but well-planned event. However, I was slightly anxious this particular year after all the bombings that had been going on around the UK. Early arrival is obviously essential, and you do need to know where to enter the event, depending on your ticket location. It was lucky that it was a dry evening, as pouring rain would have been terrible with no shelter at all. It was, of course, like concerts are, very difficult to move about once you had moved yourself into a good position for the display. There were refreshments available but eating first somewhere early on before entering the event is probably the best option.
Both the firework display and atmosphere were brilliant! This was a well-recommended trip if you don’t mind all the standing around! When the event was over, everyone was assisted into the tube station and all onward travel was free of charge!
