This was my last day in New Zealand, and somewhat sad as I had enjoyed this country so much. But it was onwards to Perth, which I hadn’t visited on my last adventure to Australia and flying back to the U.K from here would at least cut the travelling time home down a bit to what it was on the way out. I also had some exciting things planned, so I was looking forward to it. I wasn’t due to fly to Perth until the evening, so I decided to go and take a look around the lovely Riverside shopping area in Christchurch that is relatively new and looked like it was going to be a good place to do a bit of shopping and grab a coffee and a bite to eat.
The Riverside Shopping centre overlooks the Avon and opened its doors at the end of 2019, so still looks like new. It has a 7-day trading indoor market and even offers some cooking schools. This was a really enjoyable way to spend my last few hours in Christchurch and enabled me to wind down a bit before the next leg of the journey.
